Giants Waive DT Montori Hughes & Promote Deontae Skinner To Active Roster

The New York Giants officially waived DT Montori Hughes on Tuesday and promoted LB Deontae Skinner to their active roster.

  • The Giants re-signed QB Logan Thomas to their practice squad.

Hughes, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Colts back in 2013. He lasted just over two years in Indianapolis before he was waived coming out of the preseason last year.

The Giants later signed him to their practice squad before being cut loose a few weeks ago. The Giants re-signed him a few weeks into the regular season.

In 2016, Hughes has been active for two games but has yet to record a statistic.

Skinner, 25, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi State. He was on and off of the team’s practice squad and active roster for much of the 2014 season before New England signed him to a future/reserve deal in February of last year.

Unfortunately, the Patriots elected to waive him shortly after the draft. Skinner caught on with the Eagles a month later and returned to the team on a future/reserve contract his past January. However, Skinner was waived during the the preseason.

Since then, he’s been on and off of the team’s practice squad.

In 2014, Skinner appeared in seven games for the Patriots last season and recorded 16 tackles and a sack.
