Giants Working Out WRs Hakeem Nicks & Wes Welker

Josina Anderson of ESPN is reporting that the Giants are working out wide receivers including Hakeem Nicks and Wes Welker on Tuesday.

Anderson notes that the Giants typically kick the tires on free agents every week, so we’ll have to see if they end signing either of them to a contract.

Nicks, 27, signed a one-year contract with $100,000 guaranteed with the Titans back in April. However, he was among the team’s final roster cuts this past weekend as they got down to 53 players.

Nicks has already worked out for the Saints and Cowboys.

In 2014, Nicks appeared in all 16 games while with the Colts, but could only reel in 38 receptions for 405 yards and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 105 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

Welker, 33, hasn’t found any reported interest for some time now, so it is a little surprising to see him get a tryout.

In 2014, Welker appeared in 14 games for the Broncos last year and caught 49 passes for 464 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the N0. 71 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.
