Jack Del Rio One Of Two Candidates For Broncos Defensive Coordinator

Dave Krieger of 850 KOA Radio lists Broncos linebackers coach Richard Smith and former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio as the two most logical candidates to take over for defensive coordinator Dennis Allen after he was hired by the Oakland Raiders yesterday.

Smith spent the last three seasons working under John Fox both in Carolina and in Denver. Smith has spent a good amount of his time coaching linebackers but he does have defensive coordinator experience.

As for Del Rio, Jason La Canfora mentions that he has a “strong relationship” with Fox and even spent time as his defensive coordinator while in Carolina.

Del Rio’s name has come up in relation to other positions but none of the other opportunities gained much traction.
