Jaguars Plan To Move Forward With RB Leonard Fournette In 2019

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette met with and the rest of the team’s brass to clear the air and move forward together for the 2019 season.

Rapoport adds that it sounds like the meeting went well for both sides and things are headed in the right direction.

Fournette was set to make $7.1 million fully guaranteed over the final two years of his rookie contract, but the Jaguars voided the guarantees in his contract.

A few weeks ago, Coughlin released a statement after Week 17’s game calling out Fournette and RB T.J. Yeldon for being disengaged from their teammates while sitting on the bench.

Fournette, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2017. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $27.15 million contract that’s fully guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $2.93 million for the 2019 season.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Jaguars to pick up in 2020.

In 2018, Fournette has appeared in eight games and rushed for 439 yards on 133 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 22 receptions for 185 yards receiving and five total touchdowns.
