Jake Locker Taking Over As The Titans Starter?

During yesterday’s close loss to the New Orleans Saints, Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck went down with a calf injury which forced QB rookie Jake Locker into the game. Locker was able to lead the team down to the Saints 10 yard-line with a chance to win the game but Locker unfortunately never got the pass off.

At this point the Titans playoffs hopes are greatly diminished as they would have to win out and get some help along the way in order to sneak in as the six-seed.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that Hasselbeck will have more tests done on his injury calf which may lead the Titans to start Locker against the Colts next weekend.

Hasselbeck’s injury isn’t believed to be serious enough to keep him out very long but the Titans could be out of the playoff hunt in coming weeks which could force them to consider playing Locker for the remainder of the season. Hasselbeck has been a good signing for the Titans but they did take Locker with the #9 overall selection and he’s certainly capable of doing some things for the team.
