The winning streak continues for the Oakland Raiders and Jason Campbell but head coach Tom Cable has been reluctant to say that Campbell will remain the teams starting quarterback once Bruce Gradkowski returns from injury.
Cable finally started to show some support for Campbell by saying, “I really haven’t wavered, but … when you’re dealing it and you’ve got the hot hand, and things are going in the right direction for your football team, you know, why would you make a change?” “That’s what I think right now,” per Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle.
To Cable’s credit, he may have tried to deflect some even worse criticism had he indicated that Campbell would be the starter earlier on and then failed while Gradkowski was out. The decision has become much easier now that the Raiders have won their last three games. It will be interesting to see how Cable reacts if the teams loses and Campbell plays poorly.
