Jerry Jones Strips Jason Garrett Of Playing-Calling Duties

Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reports that the new offensive coordinator Bill Callahan will take over as the team’s play-caller in 2013.

This move has been rumored to be coming for weeks now, but it’s a clear indication that Jerry Jones feels that head coach Jason Garrett had too much on his plate last year. Dallas ranked No. 6 in total offense last year, so it’s not as they were a terribly unproductive unit.

Jones fired Garrett’s brother, John Garrett, who recently took a position with the Buccaneers’ coaching staff, so it makes you wonder whether or not there’s some growing animosity between Garrett and Jones. This only adds fuel to the speculation that Garrett could be replaced following the season if the team fails to make the playoffs.
