Brian McIntyre of Mac’s Football Blog reports that a league source has informed him that the New York Jets will not be able to use their franchise tag on LaRon Landry next season.
Landry was already forced to sign a one-year,  $3.5 million deal with the Jets so it’s already implied that he’s going to have to earn a long-term contract at this point. Landry’s current contract is comprised of bonuses that will be paid each each week. Should he put together a Pro Bowl year like many believe he’s capable of doing, he’ll be able to test the market next season.
