Jets Released C Spencer Long

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that Jets are not picking up C Spencer Long‘s 2019 roster bonus.

Mehta says that the Jets are still interested in bringing back Long at a reduced rate.

Long, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Redskins back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,863,800 contract with the Redskins before agreeing to a four-year, $28 million deal with the Jets last year.

Long was set to make base salaries of $3 million and $6.25 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Long appeared in 13 games for the Jets and was rated as the No. 37 center out of 38 qualifying players last year by Pro Football Focus.
