According to Jason La Canfora, the Jets remain adamant about adding a pass rusher and plan to continue to explore trades and signings in the coming weeks.
“They are going to leave no stone unturned,” a source familiar with the Jets’ thinking tells La Canfora.
Interestingly enough, La Canfora reports that the Jets were more serious about landing DE Khalil Mack in a trade with the Raiders than many realize. League sources have told La Canfora that the Raiders did not hold a true auction for Mack and basically shutdown the bidding for Mack once they received assurances from the Bears that they would trade two first-round picks for him.
La Canfora adds that the Jets were prepared to beat the Bears’ offer if need be but were never presented with the opportunity. The Raiders also felt that the picks from the Bears may be higher in the draft order and sending him to Chicago kept him out of the AFC.
The Jets are expected to be major players for any impact pass rushers who become available in 2019 for free agents such as Donte Fowler Jr, Demarcus Lawrence, Ziggy Ansah and others.
We’ll have more regarding the Jets as the news is available.
