Jets Sign S LaRon Landry To A One-Year Deal

NFL.com’s Michael Lombardi reports that Jets have signed S LaRon Landry.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Landry gets a one-year deal worth $4 million from the Jets.

This is a good move for the Jets as they prevent themselves from over-committing to a player with a pretty serious history injuries. Landry will now get a season to showcase his abilities in the hopes of landing a better contract next season. Landry is currently 27 years old.

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that sources have informed him that the Jets are trying to get S LaRon Landry under contract before he leaves town.

So far, Landry has already met with the Patriots and was scheduled to meet with a number of teams after the Jets so it would make sense for them to make their best offer now in the hopes that it would persuade him from visiting with other suitors.

Landry is by far the best available safety on the market despite his injury concerns and the Jets have to figure out the back end of their defense so this is really a logical option assuming that Landry’s interesting in the Jets.

We have him listed as the #19 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
