The New York Jets announced the release S Brandon Hardin Friday night, as well as the signing of RB Michael Smith.

Hardin, 24, was a third-round selection of the Bears back in 2012, but lasted just over a year with the team before he was placed on waivers. Hardin later signed a future/reserve contract with the Jets in January.
Despite being the No. 76 overall pick in 2012, Hardin has yet to appear in a single NFL game.
Smith, 25, was a seventh-round pick of the Buccaneers out of Utah State back in 2012, but he was placed on waivers this past may.
Smith appeared in just one game for the team during his rookie season and unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury at the start of last year.
