Josh Brent’s Time With The Cowboys Coming To An End?

According to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News, it’s “unlikely” that DL Josh Brent will remain on the Cowboys roster next season.

Brent is currently facing charges of a DUI and manslaughter after driving under the influence and flipping his car, which led to the death of fellow Cowboy LB Jerry Brown. The charges Brent faces could land him in prison for up to 20 years.

What we’re doing is basically, and my thinking has been dictated by the legal process, so until we know more about timing, status, how that’s resolved there, then I won’t even think about where he is as far as his career is concerned,” said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. “We’ll see. We have to, and that involves ultimately league matters as well, and more importantly, where he is in the justice system.

The fact that Jay Ratliff was arrested for DUI on Monday only complicates matters further in regards to their interior defensive line. It’s really very hard to imagine a scenario where Brent gets off easy with the law, so it’s almost a certainty that Brent will be released in the coming weeks.

Dallas will most likely be targeting defensive tackle options in either free agency or the draft.
