Jaguars Sign TE Julius Thomas

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the TE Julius Thomas intends to sign with the Jaguars on Tuesday.

  • Rapoport adds that the Seahawks, Raiders, Broncos made hard pushes to sign Thomas.

Recent reports all pointed to Thomas ending up in Jacksonville next year, so this isn’t a huge surprise.

The Seahawks were reportedly in the mix for Thomas as well, but they were at a clear disadvantage given the amount of available cap space Jacksonville had to worth.

It will be interesting to see how things go for Thomas with the Jaguars given that he’s leaving Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense for an upcoming offensive unit and a second-year quarterback.

Thomas, 26, caught 43 passes for 489 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns over the course of 13 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 tight end in the league out of 67 qualifying players.

We have Thomas listed as the No. 9 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
