Last night the Jets may have tipped their hand by showing their depth chart on “Hard Knocks.” ESPN AFC East blogger Tim Graham points out that the Jets showed a list of players with “x’s” by their names and it just happens that Kellen Clemens name was on the list.
There have been some suggestions that the Jets may look to trade Clemens but there hasn’t been that much interest in the backup quarterback. We mentioned that Giants as a team that might look to acquire Clemens because of the injury to Jim Sorgi. The Bills are another team that could use some more depth at the position but given that the Jets have made it known that they plan to cut Clemens, why would any team attempt to trade for him?
If the Jets do elect to release Clemens, I’m sure that he’ll get looks from the Bills and Giants but it would be surprising to see a team trade for him.
