Kony Ealy, Trevone Boykin & Lance Dunbar Also Among Players Working Out For XFL

According to Jon Machota, some of the notable former NFL players taking part in the XFL’s “Summer Showcase” on a tryout basis include:

Ealy, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. The Panthers traded him and a 2017 third-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for a second-round pick in 2017.

However, it didn’t work out for Ealy in New England and he was waived coming out of the preseason. Since then, Ealy has had stints with the Jets and Cowboys before signing on with the Raiders last year.

For his career, Ealy has appeared in 65 games and recorded 53 tackles, 15 sacks, two interceptions, six forced fumbles, two recoveries and 14 pass defenses.

Boykin, 25, wound up going undrafted out of TCU back in 2016. He was in the second year of his three-year, $1.62 million contract when the Seahawks waived Boykin as they cut their roster down to 53 players.

The Seahawks re-signed Boyking to a futures contract last year only to cut him loose a few months later.

For his career, Boykin appeared in six games for the Seahawks and threw for 145 yards while completing 13 of 18 pass attempts (72.2 percent) to go along with one touchdown and one interception.

Dunbar, 28, signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of North Texas back in 2012. After playing out his rookie contract, Dunbar signed a one-year, $1.542 million contract with the Cowboys as a restricted free agent in April of 2015.

However, Dunbar’s 2015 season came to an end after he sustained a torn ACL while returning a kick a month into the season. The Cowboys elected to bring him back on a one-year, $1.25 million contract in 2017.

The Rams later signed Dunbar to a one-year, $3 million contract before cutting him loose last year. Dunbar sat out the 2018 season.

For his career, Dunbar has appeared in 58 games rushed for 473 yards on 105 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 69 receptions for 647 yards receiving and three total touchdowns.
