Lions Place DE Brandon Copeland On I.R. After Clearing Waivers

The Detroit Lions officially placed DE Brandon Copeland on the injured reserve list Thursday after he passed through waivers unclaimed.

Copeland, 26, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Pennsylvania back in 2013. He lasted just a few months with the team before he was waived and later caught on with the Titans during his rookie season.

After a year in Tennessee, Copeland signed a one-year contract with the Lions and returned to Detroit this past April on a one-year, $615,000 exclusive rights contract.

The Lions waived him with an injury designation on Wednesday.

In 2016, Copeland appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 16 tackles, no sacks and a forced fumble.
