Lions QB Matthew Stafford “Not Out Of The Woods Yet” Regarding Hand Injury

Lions HC Jim Caldwell told reporters on Wednesday that QB Matthew Stafford‘s (hand) is “not insignificant” and he’s “not out of the woods yet.”

“He’s not out of the woods yet,” Caldwell said, via Kyle Meinke of MLive.com. “We’ll kind of see what he can do as the week goes on. It’s not like it’s some insignificant injury. That’s not the case. It’s something that we’re going to have to look at and deal with here over the course of the week to see where he is. Yeah, he’s not out of the woods.”

Stafford had his hand stepped on by Ravens OLB Terrell Suggs late in Sunday’s game and was replaced by Jake Ruddock.

X-rays later came back negative, but it seemed like this injury could linger a bit for Stafford.

Stafford, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Lions back in 2009. He was in the final year of his five-year, $76.5 million contract when he and the Lions agreed to a record-setting five-year, $135 million extension this offseason.

In 2017, Stafford has appeared in 12 games for the Lions and thrown for 3,302 yards while completing 63.9 percent of his passes to go along with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

We’ll have more regarding Stafford as the news is available.
