Update: Lions RB Mikel Leshoure Will Turn Himself In To Police Today

Chris McCosky reports that RB Mikel Leshoure will turn himself into Berrien County authorities today.

It was expected that a warrant was going to be issues for his arrest in the near future for missing his arraignment on Monday.

Julie Mack of MLive.com reports that RB Mikel Leshoure has yet to reschedule his arraignment with Berrien County District Court.

Leshoure was reportedly under the assumption that his date had been rescheduled for Wednesday, but Mack writes that’s not correct.

Berrien County Prosecutor Arthur Cotter mentioned that a warrant for his arrest could be coming tomorrow if he doesn’t get things situated with the court.

According to the Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Lions RB Mikel Leshoure is facing felony marijuana charge following his recent arrest.

Leshoure was reportedly “chewing marijuana” when the car he riding was in was pulled over.

Birkett adds that Leshoure could be subject to fines and/or suspensions as well as a six game suspension for violating the league’s drug policy.

The Lions had big plans for him this season, but between the season-ending injury and the possible suspension, Leshoure is starting to look like a liability to the team.

ESPN 96.1 in Michigan reports that Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure is being arraigned today in on his second marijuana possession charge.

ESPN 96.1 has confirmed Leshoure’s arraignment with the court’s clerk office.

Leshoure is coming off of a torn Achilles tendon and is expected to see an increased workload next season, so this isn’t an ideal start to his young career. He’ll most likely be asked to join the NFL’s drug program, but wouldn’t face a suspension unless he commits a second offense.
