Lions Sign DT Tyrunn Walker To A One-Year, $1.75M Deal

Tim Twentyman reports that the Lions have signed DT Tyrunn Walker to a one-year contract.

  • Mike Garafolo confirms the deal and adds that Walker receives a one-year, $1.75 million.

Walker, 24, was set to be a restricted free agent, but the Saints didn’t offer him a tender last week. However, this contract will actually pay him $200,000 more than the original round tender of $1.542 million.

It’s rare for a guy to not receive a restricted tender and then make more on the open market.

Ian Rapoport mentions that there was a “staggering” amount of interest from smart personnel people around the league in Walker.

In 2014, Walker appeared in all 16 games and recorded 19 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble for the Saints. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 defensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
