Lions Worked Out Four DTs Including Will Sutton

According to Howard Balzer, the Detroit Lions worked out four defensive tackles including Brandin Bryant, Joey IvieWill Sutton and Caraun Reid on Tuesday.

Of this group, the Lions signed Reid to a contract today. (NFLTR)

Sutton, 25, was taken in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Bears. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2,851,068 contract and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2017 season when the Bears recently cut him loose back in May.

The Vikings quickly signed Sutton to a deal, but decided to waive him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit.

In 2016, Sutton appeared in eight games and recorded 15 tackles and no sacks for the Bears.

Reid, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Lions back in 2014. He lasted just over two years in Detroit before he was waived at the start of the 2016 season and later claimed off of waivers by the Chargers.

Unfortunately, Reid suffered a season-ending ACL tear last year and was placed on injured reserve. The Chargers elected to cut him loose coming out of the preseason as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

The Cowboys brought him in for a workout last month but did not sign him to a contract.

In 2016, Reid appeared in seven games for the Chargers and recorded five tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and a pass defense.
