NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants

Cowboys

  • Todd Archer of ESPN predicts that the Cowboys will eventually reach an agreement on a long-term extension with DE DeMarcus Lawrence before the March 5 deadline to franchise players.

Eagles

  • Tim McManus admits it’s going to be difficult for the Eagles to pull off a trade involving QB Nick Foles, but he predicts Philadelphia eventually finds a trade partner and agrees to a tag-and-trade involving Foles.

Giants

  • Last week, Jay Glazer made a bold prediction that the Giants will trade WR Odell Beckham Jr this offseason and it caused a bit of a stir.
  • Peter King also thinks the Giants will trade Beckham and notes that Glazer doesn’t just put things out there if there isn’t a possibility of it happening.
  • King says that Glazer actually had teams calling the Giants about Beckham last year after mentioning that Beckham could be available.
  • According to King, teams flush with cap space could be tempted to pull off a big trade for Beckham.
  • Jordan Raanan of ESPN writes that it will be hard for the Giants and S Landon Collins to find a middle ground that suits both parties in terms of a long-term extension, due to the recent unpredictability of the safety market.
  • With this in mind, Raanan predicts the Giants will instead franchise Collins at close to $11 million fully guaranteed for the 2019 season.
