NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants

Cowboys

  • Baylor WR Denzel Mims said that the NFL teams he has talked to the most are the Eagles, Bills, Bears Colts, Jets, Cowboys, Rams, and Titans. (Stephen Simcox)

Eagles

  • Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP Sports Radio notes that last year, the Eagles’ offense looked it’s best when QB Carson Wentz was playing with receivers Greg Ward, Robert Davis, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and Deontay Burnett.
  • Shorr-Parks says that when Wentz was the focus of the offense looked better, as opposed to a gameplan revolving around getting the ball to specific receivers like Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson or Nelson Agholor
  • Adding a receiver who can instantly contribute in the draft such as Henry Ruggs, Justin Jefferson or K.J. Hamler could change the Eagles offense, according to Shorr-Parks, especially if TE Zach Ertz, TE Dallas Goedert, and RB Miles Sanders will be big parts of the passing game.
  • According to Shorr-Parks, the Eagles might prefer to front-load a potential extension for Ertz making it easier to pay Goedert after the 2021 season. It’s worth watching the negotiations involving top tight ends Travis Kelce and George Kittle, who are expected to set the bar even higher once they sign their next contracts.
  • Shorr-Parks says the Eagles are extremely high on new DT Javon Hargrave and it’s possible they view him as the future of their defensive line.
