NFC East Notes: Eagles, Giants, Eli Manning

Eagles

  • Mike Kaye writes that veteran S Glover Quin, who was released by the Lions on Friday, makes “a lot of the sense” for the Eagles as a No. 3 safety.
  • Kaye expects the Eagles to work something out with WR Nelson Agholor this offseason to ensure he’s back in Philadelphia.
  • If the Eagles end up moving on from Agholor, Kaye says that Buccaneers WR Adam Humphries could make sense for them.
  • Kaye lists Memphis’ Darrell Henderson and Georgia’s Elijah Holyfield as two possible running back fits for the Eagles in this year’s draft class.

Eli Manning

  • Jordan Raanan of ESPN writes that “all indications” are that the Giants are prepared to bring back QB Eli Manning as their starting quarterback for the 2019 season.
  • Sources close to Manning have told Raanan that the quarterback has received no indication his time with the Giants is about to end.
  • Raanan says that the belief in league circles is that the Giants saw enough from Manning in the second half of this past season to bring him back for another year.
  • Even so, Raanan mentions that there are “strong indications” that the Giants appear to be intent on finding their franchise quarterback in the draft this year or next.
  • A final decision regarding Manning’s status with the team should come before March 17 when he’ll receive a $5 million bonus if he’s on their roster.

Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com takes a look at six offensive players to watch for the Giants in free agency this year including:

  2. Jaguars G A.J. Cann
  3. Panthers RT Daryl Williams

  1. Of course Elisha Manning is coming back for 2019 and possibly beyond. The GMEN are in the midst of a major rebuild. And the GMEN Brass are going to roll out their franchise QB once again. A franchise QB that has been done 5 years ago, in my opinion it’s longer then that time frame.
Remember! Two very short years ago when GM Jerry Reese and then HC Ben McAdope planned on sitting Elisha Manning, which they did for Geno Smith. And Owner John Mara pleaded, “I had no idea that this situation was going to happen.” YEAH OKAY! Like President Truman once stated, “the buck stops at my desk.” and Mara was all in on the QB change.
But! Deep pocketed GMEN FANS threatened to put up electronic billboards asking for Mara to “resign”. Coupled with the DIE HARD GMEN FANS clamoring for a better send off for Elisha Manning. Thus! Igniting the GMEN Implosion Of 2017-18. Mara then proceeded to make Reese and McAdope the scapegoats and fired them both. Thus! Bringing in this doozy of a regime.
And now the same GMEN FANS that wanted a fare send off for Elisha Manning are now crying for change. It ain’t happening you FOOLS!
Mara, Reese and McAdope wanted Sam Darnold. Now! Fast forward to the new regime led by new GM Dave Gettleman and new HC Putz Shurmur and the drafting of the Anointed One Saquon Barkley with the 2nd pick of the 2018 NFL Draft and the result is more LOSING. Meanwhile! Mara and Gettleman are complaining that the offense is broken. When anyone with a half-a-brain knows the pick should have been Notre Dame G Quenton Nelson. Being the offense is broken and Gettleman is all about the Hog-Mollies.
Wake up already! The problem is and always will be Elisha Manning. This is the 3rd coaching regime in the past four years and the problems keep pointing back to #10 Elisha Manning, move on already.
Papa Mara had no problem making Phil Simms a cap casualty in 1993 after getting the GMEN to an 11-5 record and a playoff appearance. Simms is a 2X Super Bowl winning QB that had a career win/loss record of 30 games above .500. If Simms’ resume did not warrant a fare send off. Then Elisha Manning and his fraudulent memorabilia ways deserve a lot less in my opinion.
Like the ‘ole saying goes, “if you can’t win with someone, then find someone you can win with.”
