NFC East Notes: Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Eagles

Giants

Unlike the vast majority of NFL trades, new Giants DL Leonard Williams won’t have to pack everything up and move to a new city in the middle of the season after being dealt from the Jets. Williams will be in the same city and play in the same stadium.

“That definitely makes the adjustment a lot easier,” Williams said via Tom Rock of Newsday. “If I had to be traded, it makes it a lot easier that I don’t have to pack a bag and move to a whole new city overnight. I’m still right up the street, I don’t have to change my area code or anything like that.”

  • Per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Williams says there haven’t been any contract talks yet but he’s open to staying with the Giants long-term after this season.
  • Giants WR Sterling Shepard participated in a contact practice and has a chance to exit the concussion protocol before Monday night’s game against the Cowboys. (Leonard)
  • Giants seventh-round rookie OL George Asafo-Adjei‘s concussion that placed him on injured reserve is not career-threatening. (Leonard)

Redskins

  • According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Redskins believe they will be able to acquire more than a second-round pick in return for LT Trent Williams by trading him during the offseason.
  • Rapoport adds that the Redskins are comfortable waiting until February or March to trade Williams after being offered a second-round pick in exchange for him.
  • Tthe Redskins had believed Williams would practice today before he eventually sat out. (Rapoport)
  • Williams did not practice because he failed his physical following discomfort with his helmet. (JP Finlay)
  • Washington plans to use its two-week roster exemption on Williams but must decide whether to activate him after the bye in Week 10. (Finlay)
  • Redskins first-round rookie QB Dwayne Haskins took the first-team reps at quarterback during the first portion of practice Wednesday. (John Keim)
