NFC East Notes: Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Eagles

Eagles RB Jordan Howard had a successful day in his return to Chicago after the Bears traded him away this offseason. Howard ran for 78 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles win and the normally reserved Howard was more amped than usual.

“I just did a little more talking than I usually do,” Howard said, via Pro Football Talk. “There was a little back-and-forth with the guys. Everything else was normal. It was definitely a little strange, because I didn’t really go against them that much in practice. They never really tackled me.”

Giants

  • According to the Athletic’s Dan Duggan, reports of a players-only meeting for the Giants last week may have jumped the gun, as no actual meeting ended up taking place.
  • Duggan adds it’s unlikely the Giants reach an extension with DL Leonard Williams during the season, as they don’t have enough cap space to fit the large signing bonus the deal will likely require.

Redskins

  • Per Craig Hoffman, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith said Redskins LT Trent Williams asked the NFLPA not to pursue an investigation of the team.
  • Hoffman says Williams just wants to put the situation behind him and doesn’t want to drag either the Washington organization or team doctors through the mud.
  • Redskins OT Morgan Moses is getting an MRI on his pectoral muscle that he injured during Sunday’s game. (JP Finlay)
  • Redskins S Deshazor Everett‘s three-year extension is for $6 million total with incentives that can push it to more. (Ian Rapoport)
  • Redskins interim HC Bill Callahan says he will make a decision on Washington’s starting quarterback after the bye week. (Finlay)
