NFC North Notes: Bears, Lions, Vikings

Bears

Bears TE Jimmy Graham told the media on Thursday that his knee is in great shape.

“I know what player I am and I know what I can do,” Graham said, via ESPN.com. “I think I was able to show a little bit of that in the playoffs with some of the opportunities I was given. And after being 10 years in, I’ve only missed six games. That’s coming off of, at times, all kinds of injuries … at times I’ve kind of been on ice the last two years so my knee right now is the best it’s felt in four or five years. This is the best that I’ve ran, this is the fastest I’ve been in the last four or five years. I’m going to get back to being me, I’m going to get back to making big plays and scoring touchdowns because I think I’m somewhere in the top of scoring touchdowns and I want to continue that, I want to continue climbing that list and get to where I’m supposed to be.”

Graham added that he still has the ability to make plays.

“I’m still fast,” Graham said. “I still have the ability to make big plays.

Lions

New Lions CB Desmond Trufant says that he wants to pick up where he left off after a shoulder injury that limited him to nine games in 2019.

“I just want to reach my potential, as far as me playing at my highest level, for the rest of my career,” Trufant said via Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com. “That’s just what I want to be while I’m on the field. And only I’ll know that. Only I know when I’m playing my best, maximizing all of my opportunities. I was making a lot of big plays. I’ve done that throughout my career. I’m just going to try and continue that and take it up even more.”

Trufant also spoke about his new head coach Matt Patricia.

“I just got a lot of respect for (Matt Patricia),” Trufant said. “He’s had a lot of success in this league, coached a lot of great players, especially a lot of great players at my position. I know I can fit right into his scheme. He’s going to give me the opportunity to do me. To showcase my talent. I’m just looking forward to it.”

Vikings

  • Jeremy Fowler notes that despite the team releasing him prior to free agency, the Vikings recently offered a contract to CB Xavier Rhodes. Rhodes instead opted to start fresh with the Colts next season with a one-year deal.
  • According to Darren Wolfson, the Vikings have inquired about a number of defensive backs including Cardinals RFA Kevin Peterson.
