NFC Notes: Bears, Packers, Vikings

Bears

  • The Athletic’s Adam Jahns points out that Bears OLB Khalil Mack‘s 6.5 sacks in 2020 is not the kind of production Chicago expected when it made the massive move to trade two first-round picks for Mack and sign him to a record-setting deal.
  • Jahns adds 2021 is the final year of Mack’s contract that includes any guaranteed money.
  • Bears placed WR Thomas Ives on the COVID-19 list.

Lions

  • NFL Media’s Michael Silver says he was told by Lions WR Marvin Jones that “I’m not gonna lie, it’s been a while” since he’d had as much fun playing football as he did in Sunday’s 34-30 comeback win over the Bears.
  • Jones spoke pretty bluntly about the difference in the environment around the team following the departure of HC Matt Patricia: “It’s a different feel, there’s no way around it.”
  • USA Today’s Jeff Risdon says it’s noteworthy Jones was willing to go on the record with those comments.

Packers

  • ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reports K Taylor Bertolet is being brought in by the Packers for a visit this week. Bertolet was most recently on the Panthers’ practice squad.
  • Packers promoted S Henry Black to their active roster.
  • Packers signed C Anthony Fabiano to their practice squad.

Vikings

  • The Athletic’s Chad Graff notes that despite saying they’ll reduce his workload, the Vikings gave RB Dalvin Cook 38 touches on Sunday against the Jaguars, the most of any player in the past two years.
  • Vikings waived CB Holton Hill from injured reserve. (NFLTR)
  • Vikings signed OL Zack Bailey to their practice squad.
  • Vikings placed TE Brandon Dillon on the practice squad injured list.
