NFC Notes: Buccaneers, Falcons, Vikings

Buccaneers

Defensive end Carl Nassib says he’s excited for the potential fit in new DC Todd Bowles 3-4 scheme. Nassib played in a 3-4 his rookie year with the Cleveland Browns.

“I’m excited for Todd Bowles to teach me new things I haven’t had the experience of doing,” Nassib said in an interview on Sirus XM NFL Radio, via JoeBucsFan.com. “I think we’re going to come out attack, attack, attack, and it’s going to be great.

  • Per Michael Seiden, police are searching for five men caught on surveillance tape breaking into RB Peyton Barber‘s SUV and stealing his passport and a tablet he used to watch film.
  • The team says it was able to remotely lock the tablet and that it did not have any playbook information on it, just self-scouting video. (Greg Auman)

Falcons

  • D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta-Journal Constitution has the Falcons selecting Georgia CB Deandre Baker with the No. 14 pick in his mock draft.

Vikings

With new offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski having only three games of play-calling experience before being promoted from interim OC, Minnesota made experience a priority with its hire of assistant head coach and offensive advisor Gary Kubiak

“From my perspective, as a first-time coordinator, I would have been foolish not to go do everything in our power to bring a guy who has been in seven Super Bowls as a player and a coach,” Stefanski said via ESPN’s Courtney Cronin. “Called the plays the last time he won the Super Bowl. As a resource for me, I can’t tell you how lucky I am as we are putting our system together. We talked about pulling it apart and putting it together, and as we put this together, I have a resource sitting right next to me who has done it and done it at a high level and it’s really pretty special.”

While exact roles are still being assigned, Kubiak said he would be in the booth during games providing big picture assistance to Stefanski as he calls plays.
