NFC Notes: Cardinals, Saints, Seahawks

Cardinals

  • Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer notes the Cardinals coaching staff will continue working remotely for now until there is further notice.

Saints

  • Per Nick Underhill, Saints DC Dennis Allen says the team thinks CB P.J. Williams has the flexibility to play a “traditional” safety role.
  • Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer notes the Saints coaching staff plans to return to the team facility when the players do at the beginning of training camp.

Seahawks

  • Per Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, new Seahawks RB Carlos Hyde said he had shoulder surgery recently but expects to be ready for training camp: “I think I’m on time to participate wheb we get to camp and everything and by week one pretty sure I’ll be ready to go.”
  • Hyde initially suffered the injury in Week 2 of last year but played through it for the rest of the season. (Condotta)
  • The veteran understands he’s coming in as a clear backup to Seahawks RB Chris Carson: “I think everybody knows who the starting running back is for Seattle and that’s Carson. … I’m going to come in there and compete for the first spot, make sure I solidify myself and go from there.” (Curtis Crabtree)
  • Hyde lobbied for a team to sign his former teammate with the 49ers, QB Colin Kaepernick: “I think the NFL can start by signing Kap back. … Kap was making a statement four years ago about what was going on in today’s world and the NFL didn’t bother to listen to him then so I think they should start by doing that.” (Crabtree)
