NFC Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Falcons

Cowboys

  • Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones was asked Monday about the talk that there could be more trouble ahead for DE Randy Gregory“The team doesn’t hear until its time. We don’t get on the inside of any of that, unfortunately. We just get to hear when unfortunately there’s not good news. Right now we don’t know of anything.” (Jon Machota)
  • Cowboys S Kavon Frazier suffered a separated left shoulder in the first quarter Sunday’s preseason game, but X-rays came back negative. Regarding the injury, Frazier said: “I knew what it was. I was moreso worried that it was my collarbone, but the X-rays came back clean, and when they popped it back in, it felt fine.” (Todd Archer)
  • Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says that C Travis Frederick‘s (Guillain-Barre Syndrome) “arrow is up.” (Todd Archer)

Eagles

Peter King said on “The Dan Patrick Show” Monday that he doesn’t think Eagles QB Carson Wentz will be ready to return until Week 3.

“I find it very hard to believe that [Carson Wentz] will play the first week or two,” King said, per Andrew Perloff. I feel like it’s more realistic for him to play Week 3 against Indianapolis. It’s almost a friendly. You’re not facing a tough defense.”

Falcons

Falcons QB Matt Ryan says he isn’t all that concerned about the team’s offensive struggles during the preseason.

“Not really,” Ryan said of concerns, via D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I’ve played long enough to know that some years, you are 4-0 in the (exhibition) season and it doesn’t certainly pan out that way in the regular season. Some years, you are not that way in the [exhibition] season and the regular season could be different. . . .

“I think the veterans and the experienced guys that we have make you feel good about what we are going to be and who we are going to be as we move forward throughout the year.
