NFC Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Washington

Cowboys

  • Per the Athletic’s Jon Machota, Cowboys QB Andy Dalton deferred questions on whether he would like to re-sign with Dallas until after the season: “There’s a lot to be determined in the future. That’s not my focus right now. We’ve got two games left. … We’ll see what happens in the future, I’ve obviously enjoyed my time here. I love being in Dallas.”

Eagles

  • The Athletic’s Zach Berman writes it’s not out of the question the Eagles look to trade LT Andre Dillard in 2021 if he doesn’t beat Jordan Mailata for the starting job.
  • Berman adds there’s an argument the Eagles would get more by trading second-round rookie Jalen Hurts than they would by shopping Carson Wentz.

Giants

  • Per NJ.com’s Zack Rosenblatt, Giants HC Joe Judge said they anticipate OC Jason Garrett clearing the COVID-19 protocol and calling the plays on Sunday.
  • Giants DL Leonard Williams acknowledged there is a possibility he could leave in free agency this offseason but appears to be interested in re-signing long-term. (Rosenblatt)

Washington

  • Per Washington senior media VP Julie Donaldson, Washington QB Dwayne Haskins took first-team reps at practice Thursday while QB Alex Smith threw to receivers during individual drills.
  • There are some mixed messages on whether Smith will return from a calf strain to start this week. But Washington HC Ron Rivera expressed some optimism Thursday: “He did have a good day today. It was promising. We’ll see how it is in the morning.” (Mike Garafolo)
