NFC Notes: Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, Commanders, Cowboys, Eagles, Giants

Commanders

  • Commanders WR Terry McLaurin after the loss: “We’re hurting ourselves. … If you want a chance … to have a rhythm, you got to make the routine plays. You have to be able to execute at a higher level (or) you’re shooting yourself in the foot. It’s hard to play against yourself and the opponent.” (Ben Standig)

Cowboys

Eagles

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts said his knee feels fine after the win over the Dolphins on Sunday night, with HC Nick Sirianni adding that Hurts had a great game against Miami.

“I feel fine. I’m happy in how we responded, especially coming off last week,” Hurts said, via NFL.com. “It was a great opportunity. A great team out there. Got a lot of respect for them as a team, and you know, I think we played really good complementary football. Had some negative plays, obviously with the fumble, but I mean, you can’t have that. I must be living bad with the other one, the tipped ball. I was just happy with how we played together, happy with how we persevered. We found ways to respond.”

“Man, there’s nobody else I’d rather be our quarterback,” Sirianni noted. “He played his butt off tonight. He’s tough. You know, y’all saw it. I mean, you all saw he was going through a little something, so he is tough, he is tough, he is tough. This game always comes down to physicality and toughness. It always does. No matter what. And that’s physical and mental toughness and Jalen Hurts has both.”

Giants

Giants RB Saquon Barkley commented on the fact that he was able to score a game-winning touchdown against the Commanders right after being assured by the team that he was part of their plans going forward and wouldn’t be dealt at the deadline.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a sigh of relief. … It didn’t cross my mind,” Barkley said, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN. “I don’t even think about it. I know you guys are doing your job and asking the question. There was a conversation during the week from [coach Brian Daboll] and [general manager] Joe [Schoen]. They pulled me aside and talked to me. I can’t control that, if it doesn’t happen or it does happen. What I can control is how I come to work every single day and how I compete, my mindset and my work ethic. That’s what I’m going to continue to do.”

  • Giants LB Kayvon Thibodeaux on his missed interception: “Ah man, I knew that was going to come. It went from an interception to a punt return and I just saw the open grass and I saw the blockers and I looked up and, just hit me in the stomach, but yeah we’ve got to get back. I’m waiting for that.” (Charlotte Carroll)
