NFC South Notes: Buccaneers, Panthers, Saints

Buccaneers

  • Former Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy posted a goodbye video to Instagram, first thanking the Glazer family who owns the team: “You guys changed my life forever, making me a Buccaneer. I grew up a Buccaneers fan, a Warren Sapp fan, just loving the organization. Y’all changed my family’s life forever.” (Greg Auman)
  • McCoy also thanked the fans: “I’m forever grateful for that. To all the fans, ones who love me, ones who hated me, all the writers and everybody who’s a part of Tampa … I just thank you guys. You guys made me who I am. I love everybody.” (Auman)
  • McCoy said he would be back and would like to retire as a Buccaneer: “To all the fans who supported me, regardless, who will continue to support me, regardless, I love you guys. I am a Buccaneer forever, and I will be back. I will retire as a Buc. But for now … (plays Batman music, peace symbol).” (Auman)

Panthers

  • Panthers HC Ron Rivera said there’s no timetable for QB Cam Newton yet, but he’s “very optimistic” Newton will be ready for training camp. (Bill Voth)
  • Panthers TE Greg Olsen reportedly moved around well in OTA’s and has been cleared by the medical staff: “I’ve been cleared for everything for a while now.” (Jourdan Rodrigue)
