NFC South Notes: Buccaneers, Panthers, Saints

Buccaneers

  • Greg Auman mentions the Buccaneers should receive a third-round compensatory pick in the 2020 NFL Draft after losing LB Kwon Alexander last offseason to the 49ers.

Panthers

  • According to the Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue, Panthers OT Greg Little has cleared the concussion protocol.
  • The Panthers will not be in attendance at free-agent QB Colin Kaepernick‘s workout on Saturday, as the team is not looking to add a veteran quarterback. (Joseph Person)

Saints

The Saints were favored by two touchdowns entering Sunday’s game against the Falcons and their beleaguered defense on Sunday. But all Saints QB Drew Brees and the offense could muster were three field-goal drives in a 26-9 upset loss. It was an unexpected setback for a team expected to compete for the top NFC seed and the Super Bowl.

“We were extremely disappointed in our performance,” Brees said via NOLA.com’s Rod Walker. “I think we know we’re a lot better than that and understand that, especially at this point in the season, this is a time when we really want to start separating ourselves from the pack in a positive way and continuing to position ourselves to achieve the goals that we have set for this team.”
