NFC West Notes: Cardinals, 49ers, Rams, Seahawks

Cardinals

  • Per Darren Urban of the team website, Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury says WR Christian Kirk will be limited at practice this week with an ankle injury and won’t play this week but dodged a more major injury.
  • Kingsbury thought the injury looked a lot worse on film, though he wouldn’t say if it was a high or low ankle injury. (Josh Weinfuss)
  • Cardinals WR Damiere Byrd is also unlikely to play this week due to a hamstring injury. (Weinfuss)
  • Cardinals signed DE Zach Kerr. (NFLTR)

49ers

  • According to the Athletic’s Matt Barrows, 49ers DL coach Kris Kocurek might be the type of assistant who’s happier in his role as a defensive line coach, which could help San Francisco avoid other teams poaching him.
  • Barrows notes that it would make sense this week for the 49ers to switch Jimmie Ward for Tarvarius Moore into the starting lineup at safety given Ward is finally healthy and Moore could fill in for starting CB Emmanuel Moseley on special teams.
  • 49ers released DB Antone Exum. (NFLTR)
  • 49ers promoted DB Marcell Harris to their active roster.

Rams

  • According to Pro Football Talk, Ram RB Todd Gurley doesn’t appear to be happy with his role in the offense. So far in 2019 he’s averaging 15 touches a game compared to over 23 touches per game last year and 26 the year before that.
  • Rams HC Sean McVay implied that he is not concerned about Gurley’s lack of production this season: “I’m stressed because I’m always stressed.” (Gary Klein)

Seahawks

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Wednesday that RB Rashaad Penny is ready to go after missing the past two games with a hamstring injury. (John Boyle
  • Carroll said LT Duane Brown practiced today and should be fine for tomorrow against the Rams. He’s listed as questionable with a biceps injury. (Brady Henderson)
  • Aaron Wilson reports that the Seahawks will workout former Packers LB Brady Sheldon on Friday.
