NFC West Notes: Cardinals, 49ers, Rams, Seahawks

Cardinals

Cardinals first-round rookie QB Kyler Murray sat out the majority of the second half of Arizona’s 27-13 upset win against the Seahawks on Sunday after injuring his hamstring. That leaves his status for next week uncertain. The Cardinals were eliminated from the playoffs long ago, and while Murray is a competitor, hamstring injuries are notoriously finicky.

“I couldn’t make a guess,” Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury said via ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss. “We obviously won’t put him out there if he wasn’t a hundred percent.”

49ers

  • Per the Athletic’s Matt Barrows, 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said he doesn’t anticipate DE Dee Ford returning from his hamstring injury this week: “We’ll see how this week progresses. But I’m not expecting to have him this week.”
  • 49ers signed DL Anthony Zettel. (NFLTR)
  • 49ers waived DL Jeremiah Valoaga.

Rams

The Rams were officially eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday night following a last-second loss to the 49ers. It punctuated a steep fall from grace for Los Angeles this season after representing the NFC in the Super Bowl last season, and QB Jared Goff said what everyone associated with the Rams was thinking.

“It’s extremely disappointing,” Goff said via ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry. “You never envision something like this when you start the year. It’s not even close to the standard that we want to hold. It’s sickening.”

  • Rams HC Sean McVay told reporters after the game that rookie RB Darrell Henderson will undergo right ankle surgery. (Gary Klein)
  • McVay said that CB Jalen Ramsey‘s knee injury will continue to be tested and evaluated.
