NFC West Notes: Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks

Cardinals

Cardinals RB David Johnson says he’s still aiming to hit 1,000 yards both rushing and receiving this year.

“My biggest motivation is still 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving,” Johnson said via NFL Media’s Grant Gordon. “That’s what I’m always going to try to strive to just because I was so close in 2016. . . . I think I still have the same mentality of trying to get that.”

Johnson says WR Christian Kirk, who is familiar with HC Kliff Kingsbury‘s offense, reassured him he’d still get a good number of carries.

“He said a lot of people have heard he doesn’t run the ball, but he told me personally that their running backs have gotten the ball a lot as far as running the ball,” Johnson said. “I’ve heard that Kliff is really good at putting his guys in open space, especially as running backs, and giving them open space to try to get the yards catching the ball, and doing things like that.”

Rams

Rams HC Sean McVay says the team has no doubts in QB Jared Goff, despite his Super Bowl performance.

“I think he’s already the man. I think he’s had a lot of moments,” McVay said via Pro Football Talk. “His teammates believe in him, his coaches believe in him. I think it’s just continuing to do what you do at a higher level. It’s ‘Can I continue to make great decisions? Can I continue to make throws with accuracy and anticipation?’ I think the thing that was great about him really from the first year we were together to last year is the ownership. We talk about the quarterback being an extension of the coaching staff and I think he did that.”
