According to Josh Katzenstein, the NFL has officially approved OL Nick Easton‘s contract with the Saints on Tuesday.
Katzenstein reports that Easton receives a four-year deal worth $22.5 million contract that includes a $2 million signing bonus and just $4 million guaranteed.
The Saints and Easton reached an agreement last week, but their original contract was disapproved by the NFL, so they needed to resubmit it to the league after making the required changes.
The Saints really needed to add some interior offensive line help after Max Unger surprisingly retired from the NFL and the expectation is that Easton will play center for them.
Easton, 26, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out Harvard back in 2015. He was later traded to the 49ers return for a seventh-round pick.
San Francisco elected to trade Easton to the Vikings for LB Gerald Hodges a few months later. Unfortunately, Easton missed the 2018 season after undergoing surgery to correct a herniated disc in his neck.
In 2017, Easton appeared in 12 games for the Vikings and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 56 guard out of 78 qualifying players.
