NFL Moves Franchise Tag Deadline Back To Monday, March 16

Adam Schefter reports that the NFL has decided to once again push back the deadline for teams to apply franchise and transition tags.

The deadline was scheduled for Thursday, March 12, but will now be Monday, March 16 at 11:59:59 EST.

Here’s the statement from the NFL:

There are a lot of moving parts this offseason with the NFLPA voting on a new CBA by Saturday.

The negotiating window for teams to meet with free agents opens on Monday, so teams will need to make their decisions on franchise and transition candidates before then.

The big winners in the tag deadline moving back are teams that could use both tags like the Cowboys and Titans to keep players like Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry, depending on whether or not the CBA offer passes.
