NFL Notes: Cardinals, Eagles, Giants, Rams, & Redskins

Cardinals

• Josh Weinfuss of ESPN writes that it would make sense for the Cardinals to add a quarterback this offseason that they could groom for the future.
• Weinfuss points to Palmer’s age and Drew Stanton preparing to test the open market as two obvious reasons for Arizona looking for a young option.

Eagles

• Though Phil Sheridan of ESPN says the Eagles may take a look at quarterbacks Nick Foles and Chase Daniels in free agency, he thinks that Sam Bradford is the team’s most promising option and will ultimately re-sign with Philadelphia.

Giants

• According to Dan Graziano, the Giants will be “major players” in free agency, or will at least they’ll try to be.
• Graziano expects them to use nearly all of their $60 million in cap space to upgrade their defense by targeting a safety and a pass-rusher.
• Graziano specifically suggests S Eric Berry if he reaches free agency and DC Olivier Vernon as names to watch, depending on whether they re-sign Jason Pierre-Paul.

Rams 

• Nick Wagoner of ESPN believes the Rams will only be able to retain one of their impending free agent cornerbacks in Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson.

Redskins

• John Keim of ESPN anticipates the Redskins re-signing QB Kirk Cousins with the contract ending up in the $18-20 million range.
