- However,ย Maiocco adds that the 49ers could sign someone like WR Hakeem Nicks or LB Lance Briggs after May 12, which is when players will no longer count against team’sย compensatory picks.
- According to Maiocco, San Franciscoย is hoping WR Michael Crabtree signs elsewhere, which would likely result in them receive a compensatory pick next year.

- Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes thatย Shamarko Thomas is likely to replace Troyย Polamalu at safety next year.
- Bouchette expects the Steelers to bolster their safety depth in the draft.
