NFL Notes: Bills, Cardinals, Patriots, & Texans

Bills

Bills HC Rex Ryan offered an explanation for their decision to claim LB IK Enemkpali off of waivers form the Jets just a day after he broke QB Geno Smith‘s jaw.

We all know what happened,” Ryan said, via Mike Rodak of ESPN.com. “Obviously it was a terrible thing that happened. But IK made a mistake.  Instead of listening to this person, that person… We had IK last year. … He was a good teammate. Simple as that. It we didn’t think he would be successful on field, in locker room, and in community, he wouldn’t be here.

Cardinals

Cardinals ILB Sean Weatherspoon re-injured his hamstring on Tuesday while going through some individual drills.

“Just not feeling as strong as it needs to be to sustain the practice,” Weatherspoon said, via the Arizona Republic. “I want to practice. I want to go out there with my guys, get that timing down. But the main thing is, I’m on a one-year deal so I’ve got to be healthy before I get out there.

Patriots

Texans

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle writes that the Texans don’t appear to be in the market for a running back at this point in time.

Texans HC Bill O’Brien mentioned that they’re “pretty satisfied” with their current options.

“Yeah, I think right now we’re pretty satisfied with what we’re looking at right now,” O’Brien said. “I think there is a bit of a numbers issue maybe body-wise when you look at it, but we’re not in a situation here where we just want to bring anybody in off the street just to have numbers. We can do a lot of different things offensively.

“You can see some of the things we’re doing out there today. We put different guys back there, maybe guys that aren’t necessarily running backs that are playing that position for us. We have a diverse enough scheme where we can mix and match, and with that position right now, I like the way those guys are working.”
