Broncos

• QB Peyton Manning has been fined $8,200 for taunting Texans S D.J. Swearinger. Manning won’t appeal the fine. (Chris Mortensen)

Browns

• Josh Gordon‘s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is working with the Browns, the NFL and the CFL to allow his client to play for the Calgary Stampeders this year. (Albert Breer)
• The Stampeders put a request in to add Gordon to their negotiating list this morning and it has been granted. (Albert Breer)

Buccaneers

• G Logan Mankins won’t play in Thursday’s preseason finale and will instead make his debut in Week 1. (Adam Caplan)

Chargers

• Sixth-round pick RB Marion Grice and undrafted rookie RB Branden Oliver are competing for the No. 4 running back job. (Eric D. Williams)

Panthers

• Veteran S Roman Harper will get his first start at strong safety this preseason since signing with the Panthers. (David Newton)

Patriots

• Rookie QB Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to play most of, if not all of Thursday’s preseason finale. (Mike Reiss)

• CBs Marcus Roberson, Greg Reid and Darren Woodard are competing for the opportunity to replace starter Trumaine Johnson.
• DE Ethan Westbrooks “probably has the edge” on Michael Sam, but there remains a chance the Rams could keep both.
