NFL Notes: Broncos, Saints, Vikings

Broncos

  • Mike Klis highlights two realistic scenarios for the Broncos to address the quarterback position. The first is free agency, where Denver could pursue either Joe Flacco or Nick Foles via trade or free agency.
  • Klis also writes that Denver could use the No. 10 overall pick on one of four QB’s: Dwayne Haskins, Daniel Jones, Drew Lock or Kyler Murray
  • Klis also expects QB Case Keenum to remain with the team because of his $18 million salary with $7 million guaranteed for 2019, either as a backup or a bridge to a rookie quarterback.
  • The Denver Broncos announced that they’ve hired Chris Kuper as their new assistant offensive line coach.

Saints

Saints GM Mickey Loomis was asked about QB Drew Brees’ league-high $33.5 million cap figure for the 2019 season and he acknowledged that they’ve “kicked the can down the road a number of times.”

“We’ll see what happens,” Loomis said, via Nola.com. “We know it’s coming at some point, and we’ve kind of kicked the can down the road a number of times, haven’t we?

Loomis mentioned that he and his staff are in the early stages of the offseason planning, but added that they have some options in terms of their salary cap.

“We’ve got a lot of mechanisms to maneuver the cap,” Loomis said.

Vikings

  • According to Jay Glazer, the Vikings have “zero” regrets about signing QB Kirk Cousins to a three-year, $84 million contract last year, despite missing the playoffs in 2018.
  • The Vikings met with Kansas State OL Dalton Risner on Tuesday. (Darren Wolfson)
