NFL Notes: Browns, Cardinals, Jaguars, Vikings



  • Browns executive Sashi Brown mentioned Wednesday that they want WR Terrelle Pryor signed to a long-term as opposed to one-year option and added that they value him a lot. (Nate Ulrich)
  • Brown said they haven’t discussed their plans if suspended WR Josh Gordon ends up being reinstated. (Scott Petrak)
  • Browns added that they will always look to invest in the quarterback position but he could still envision a scenario in which Robert Griffin III, Cody Kessler, and Kevin Hogan are all back as the team’s quarterbacks next season. (Scott Petrak)
  • In regards to RGIII, Brown said no final decision has been made about his future with the team. (Nate Ulrich)


  • Cardinals HC Bruce Arians said of their quarterback position: “We’re always looking for the future quarterback, whether it’s in first round or third round.” (Sirius XM NFL Radio)
  • Arians added that he doesn’t like to groom quarterbacks by having them sit and watch. Instead, he wants a plug-and-play quarterback who can learn from his mistakes. (Josh Weinfuss)
  • Cardinals GM Steve Keim said of the taking a quarterback: “There’s no better time to take a quarterback than when you have a guy like Carson (Palmer).” (Josh Weinfuss)
  • Keim said he’d like to find another running back who can do all the things David Johnson can do. (Josh Weinfuss)
  • Arians said they would like to bring RB Chris Johnson back next year, but added that it’s up to Chris. (Josh Weinfuss)
  • Arians mentioned that they’ve prepared for the possibility of losing veteran DE Calais Campbell in free agency by who they’ve taken in the last two drafts. (Josh Weinfuss)
  • In regards to the cornerback position, Arians said: “Want to re-sign Marcus Cooper but the price might rise too high. On potential defensive losses: Hopefully we’re prepared.” (Darren Urban)


  • Jaguars new HC Doug Marrone said of QB Blake Bortles: “He has to get better, he knows that and we have to get better around him…he’s our quarterback right now.” (Sirius XM NFL Radio)
  • Marrone mentioned that they haven’t ruled out the possibility of re-signing OL Kelvin Beachum, even after they’ve agreed to trade LT Branden Albert. (John Oesher)
  • Marrone said he would like Myles Jack to be a “three-down” linebacker for them this year, but added “he’ll have to earn it.” (Ryan O’Halloran)


  • Vikings GM Rick Spielman told reporters at the Combine that they’ve had positive talks with Adrian Peterson‘s agent but added that “all our options open.” (Tom Pelissero)
  • Spielman added he wants to re-sign Peterson but doesn’t know how the financial pieces will fit together. (Chris Tomasson)
  • Spielman said of QB Teddy Bridgewater: “There’s no timeline because there hasn’t been an injury like this (at quarterback).” (Chris Tomasson)
