NFL Notes: Cardinals, Cowboys, Jets, Rams, Steelers

Cardinals

  • Cardinals HC Bruce Arians said of the Michael Bush signings: “We need a guy who’s gonna pound it in there and close out games for us.”

Cowboys

Jets

Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post reports that Jets HC Rex Ryan bumped into scouts and coaches around the league who informed him that GM John Idzik had been telling people that he plans on replacing Ryan after the season.

Did he think that wasn’t going to get back to me?” Ryan reportedly told a confidant.

Cannizzaro adds that sources have said that Ryan is prepared to go straight to doing television if he’s fired by the Jets.

Ryan told reporters after Monday night’s blowout loss to the Bills that he still expects to be the team’s head coach for the remainder of the season.

“One thing I know, unless it changes drastically, I will be the head coach here for the next five weeks,” Ryan said on Monday.

Rams

  • Jim Thomas mentions that the Rams will need to create a roster spot later in the week for when they activate DE Chris Long from short-term injured reserve.
  • Jim Thomas reports that another NFL team was interested in signing TE Justice Cunningham to their active roster, but the Rams were able to keep him by promoting him.
