NFL Notes: Colin Kaepernick, Bernard Pierce, Jace Davis, & Seahawks

Colin Kaepernick

• Grant Cohn of the Press Democrat believes the 49ers actually want to demote QB Colin Kaepernick to third string if he’s unable to beat out Blaine Gabbert for the starting job.
• Cohn mentions that doing so would save the 49ers weekly roster bonuses of $125,000 while also sending a message to players on the team about not buying in to what they’re doing and requesting a trade.

Bernard Pierce

• Field Yates reports that free agent RB Bernard Pierce has been suspended for the first two weeks of the 2016 season.

Jace Davis

• Pro Football Talk reports that free agent WR Jace Davis has been suspended for the first four weeks of teh 2016 season.

Seahawks

John Clayton mentioned that the Seahawks could use their cap savings from placing Marshawn Lynch on the reserve/retired list on extensions for WR Doug Baldwin and K Steven Hauschka. (Danny O’Neil)

• The Seahawks have several veteran players trying out for them this weekend, according to Curtis Crabtree.
• The list of tryout players includes: Will Pericak, Justin Hamilton, Terry Poole, Ronnie Shields, Cameron Marshall, George Farmer, Robert Smith, Trovon Reed, Dougals McNeil, Antwan Goodley, Jeff Fuller, Jake Heaps, Deshon Foxx, Tyler Slavin and Drew Ferris.
