NFL Notes: Draft, Chargers, Packers, Ravens, Redskins, Saints

Draft

  • Minnesota TE Maxx Williams announced that he’ll enter the 2015 NFL draft. (Joe Christensen)

Chargers

Packers

  • QB Aaron Rodgers is not expected to practice until Thursday of next week.

Aaron is doing well. He’s been in treatment during the practice period,” McCarthy said on Friday, via Weston Hodkiewicz of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “We’ll do the same tomorrow. I really don’t see him getting on the practice field until Thursday at the earliest.”

Ravens

  • The Ravens have ruled out LT Eugene Monroe (ankle) for the Wildcard game.

Redskins

  • ESPN’s John Clayton reports that the Redskins are expected to give former Chargers GM A.J. Smith an “enhanced position” in the team’s front office.
  • According to Clayton, Smith is expected to relocate to Washington, D.C., and take on more responsibilities when it comes to football decisions.
  • Bruce Allen will remain the team’s president and general manager.

Saints

Ian Rapoport reports that the Saints are parting ways with WRs coach Henry Ellard and TEs coach Terry Malone.

  • Rapoport adds that the Saints also fired DBs coach Andre Curtis.

According to Rapoport, the “big question” is still whether or not DC Rob Ryan will be back next year. Saints HC Sean Payton could decide to give Ryan “more suitable parts” to work with in 2015.

Rapoport wouldn’t be surprised if Ryan stay for another season.
