NFL Notes: Broncos, Jets, Rams & Titans

Broncos

  • Jeff Legwold writes that one reason why the Broncos have yet to sign first-round QB Paxton Lynch could be related to the fact that he plays quarterback and has an opportunity to start within his rookie deal.
  • It’s also worth mentioning that other players taken around Lynch in round one have yet to agree to their rookie deals.
  • According to Legwold, both the Broncos and the representatives for Lynch have expressed optimism a deal will get done, possibly before the end of June.
  • Legwold notes that the Broncos last two first-round selections — Shane Ray and Bradley Roby — didn’t sign their rookie deals until the first few weeks of June.

Jets

  • According to Rich Cimini of ESPN,ย Jets OC Chan Gailey is still trying to figure out how to utilize veteran RB Matt Forteย in his offensiveย system.
  • Cimini points out that the Gailey could look to use Forte in a similar role as he did withย C.J. Spillerย in Buffalo when they moved Spiller around a bit andย had him line up wide or in the slot.

Rams

  • According to Nick Wagoner, the Rams are high on some of the undrafted receivers they signed including: Paul McRoberts, Nelson Spruce, Marquez North and Duke Williams.
Wagoner adds that Los Angeles is hoping that at least one of these receivers makes the 53-man roster.
Other notable undrafted rookies worth watching this summer, accordingย to Wagoner, includes S Brian Randolph, CB Jabriel Washington, OL Jordan Swindle, and RB Aaron Green.

Titans

  • According toย Jason Wolf of The Tennessean, the Titans’ competition for the starting left guard position is currently betweenย Jeremiah Poutasi, Quinton Spainย and Sebastian Tretola.ย
  • Wolf could see sixth-round rookie Tretola starting, consideringย he is the only player of the three to be drafted by GM Jon Robinson. Also,ย Tretolaย hasย the “brute strength and demeanor” desired by the the Titans, according to Wolf.
